Rock Through The Valley

Hello Rockers and Rockettes!

As most of you know, I try my best to support all things that are rock in our lovely Lehigh Valley.  I know I cannot split myself into two people, but who in the hell can these days?  Anyway, I know that what I am going to post here isn’t music related, but it really is.  Here in the Lehigh Valley, there are going to be different art and music events that are going to be under the umbrella called Rock Through The Valley.  I first heard about a piece of this from Frank Foe, the legendary punk DJ on WLVR, last week when he sent me an email on working on some cross promotion for an upcoming event at Lehigh.  I am all in and I am sure that I will be passing on some more info about this to you all soon.  Until then, check out these upcoming events to our area.

Now these events listed will coincide with the Allentown Art Museum exhibit called “Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History, 1955 to the Present.”  At Lehigh University, from Jan 25-May 27, “Girls on Film: 40 Years of Women in Rock” will be featured at Zoellner Arts Center.  This traveling exhibit is from The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and will feature images of female rockers such as Grace Slick, Joan Jett, and Tina Turner.

The Baum School of Art located in Allentown PA will feature “Frock & Roll: Fashion that Rocks.”  This event will start February 9th and runs till March 2.  This will be a fashion exhibition of emerging designers, some who were featured on “Project Runway,” as will as some iconic designers from the 1980’s till present.

I found this on interesting and it started today.  Rock Through The Valley is having a photo contest.  The Morning Call between the dates of Jan 12 through February 4th is looking for readers to submit their favorite rock n roll photos.  The paper will create an exhibit in its lobby including all the photos submitted.

Now these are only four events of a long list of what is happening from now till May.  For more info on these events or a complete listing of all the events, please take some time out and check out www.rockthroughthevalley.com.  Just another thing to do here in the Lehigh Valley.  Go out and check one of these events out or maybe take some time to check them all out!  Anything rock and art related is cool in my book.

Just saying……
